1 Corinthians 1:26-31 – We Can Boast

1 Corinthians 1:26-31 – We Can Boast

WELCOME TO WORSHIP
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Paul’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news of God’s forgiveness through Jesus.

PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR TODAY’S WORSHIP
Lord Jesus, as I just celebrated your appearance and your calling of your first disciples, now I celebrate you teaching your disciples—and me—what it means to be your disciple. Bless my listening today as I hear your Sermon on the Mount, and teach me what God’s strength can do. Show me today the truth that no matter how weak I am, it is your strength in faith and in life that matters most. In your name I pray. Amen.

NEW MIDWEEK…STUDY

Our new midweek study will be…How to Study the Bible. This study is a tool to help Christians meditate on God’s Word. In this meditation is defined as a combination of Bible study and prayer. The class members are taught to use Luther’s four strands and are given an opportunity to develop their own personal Bible reading plans.

Thank you to everyone who voted in the survey. The other options are still options for future studies.

MORNINGS WITH MOMMY

Mornings with Mommy is back, and we would love to have you join us! It is a fun and easy way to enjoy activities with your children ages 0-5, and also enjoy meeting new friends. Each session includes crafts, a sensory station, gross and fine motor stations, a story, Bible time, and a snack. We meet at 10:00 am on the first and third Tuesdays of the month in the church basement. The cost of the program is $5 per family (not child) to cover the cost of supplies. Sign up for any or all of the sessions here: https://www.stpaulsbangor.com/mornings-with-mommy/. Please note: although it says mommy in the title, ALL caregivers are welcome!!!

BIBLE BASICS CLASS COMING SOON

Our next Bible Basics class (also called the new member class or Bible Information Class) will begin in mid-February. The day and time is flexible depending on the schedules of those who would like to attend. I ask that you block off 1.5 hours for each session, but usually it will be closer to 1 hour. Free childcare can be available upon request. If you or someone you know would be interested in taking the class, please sign up on the bulletin board in the lobby or contact Pastor Groth at pastor@stpaulsbangor.com. Long-time members are also invited, as it’s always a good refresher of the foundations of our faith. For more info on the class itself, visit stpaulsbangor.com/new/bible-basics.

SLEDDING/TUBING OUTING

PACE has arranged for a Sledding/Tubing Outing for our school and church families. The event will be at Whitetail Ridge (Sparta) on February 16, from 5:30-7:30 pm. If you are interested in this event, please watch for flyers in the church entryway for further details and signup. You may also call or email Krista Pfaff with questions. Thank you. PARENT CONVERSATIONS – FIC

Did you know about Forward in Christ’s Parent Conversations resource?

Being a Christian parent is challenging. Although we have a wonderful resource in God’s Word, the Bible doesn’t always answer our parenting questions with black and white answers—and neither does Parent Conversations. What Parent Conversations does provide is real-life perspectives from parents who are struggling with the same questions as you. Have a question? Join the conversation! You can submit questions or comments through the contact form. Visit forwardinchrist.net/parents for articles, comments, questions, and more.

OFFERING ENVELOPES

New offering envelopes are ready pick up in the church basement. Stop on down and grab yours (and your children’s) from the two tables set up downstairs.
