Luke 12:13-21 – The Only Treasure that makes Life worth Living

Luke 12:13-21 – The Only Treasure that makes Life worth Living

WELCOME TO WORSHIP
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Paul’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news of God’s forgiveness through Jesus.

PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR TODAY’S WORSHIP
Lord Jesus, I often treasure earthly possessions, money, and power more than I ought. Strike me with your warnings today about those who put their trust in and focus on such things. Remind me of what you did for me when you came to this earth, and help me keep that in mind as I keep all my earthly possessions in their proper perspective. In your name I pray. Amen.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

THANK YOU TO PASTOR RIEKE

We thank Pastor Mark Rieke for leading us in worship today and for sharing God’s Word with us. The Lord continue to bless your ministry, Pastor Rieke!

PASTOR GROTH’S CALL TO MT. CALVARY

Pastor Groth has received a call to serve as pastor of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church in Redding and Anderson, CA. This means he will take time to gather information on both calls he currently has, the one here at St. Paul’s in Bangor and the one he has received from Mt. Calvary. Pray for Pastor Groth as he deliberates where he can best serve the kingdom of God. If you would like to discuss the ministry at St. Paul’s with Pastor Groth, reach out via email, text, or phone.

TWO POSITIONS AT ST. PAUL’S SCHOOL

Do you have a love for children, their education, and nurturing those children in the gospel? St. Paul’s Lutheran School in Bangor has openings for an afternoon Surround Care position from 3:00 – 6:00 p.m. on weekdays during the school year. We also have a need for a Teacher’s Aide in our new and exciting 3K-4K Program, which will be at needed times during school days. If you are interested in either or both positions, let us know. We have the flexibility to combine the Surround Care position with the Teacher’s Aide position if that is desired. Please contact Pastor Groth at 608-486-2754 or pastor@stpaulsbangor.com.

3K/4K CLASSROOM NEEDS

We’re gearing up and getting things in place for our new 3K/4K classroom this coming fall. If you’d like to help out purchasing some items for use in the classroom, please see the Amazon Wishlist linked in the QR code.

BANGOR FUN DAZE PARADE

The Bangor Fun Daze parade will be Sunday, August 10th, at noon. If you would like to walk with our float and hand out candy and invites to church and school, meet us by the Bangor elementary school where we’ll be lined up. You can also sport your St. Paul’s shirt if you’ve got one. We’re excited for our St. Paul’s army to once again represent our church and school family to our community!

SCHOOL DONATION BOARD

Located in the church entryway is a “Donation Board” that has some wish list items our St. Paul’s teachers have requested for their classrooms. If you’re willing and would like to contribute to the classrooms, feel free to pick an item from the board, purchase, and then bring the item back to the donation bin. Our students and teachers appreciate all of your support!

WELCOME BOX FOR NEW TEACHER & STAFF

St. Paul’s is blessed to have new staff members joining this year! To help us welcome them, PACE has set up a card box in the back of the narthex. Please help us welcome:

– Tara Blount (new 3K/4K teacher)

– Julie Arndt (church & school secretary)

– Lisa Hammes (surround care staff member)

YOU’RE INVITED TO THE BACK TO SCHOOL BASH!

All church and school families are invited to celebrate the start of a new school year on Friday, August 22nd at 5:30pm. Bring a dish to pass (nut-free) and lawn chairs to sit on. We hope to see you there!

INTERESTED IN JOINING PACE?

Are you looking for a way to get involved with our school? The PACE (Partners Active in Christian Education) committee would love for you to join us! We meet a few times throughout the year looking for ways support and bring together our school, church, and community. There’s no need to have a child in the school – all are welcome to join! For more information, contact PACE president Lisa Hammes at (608) 433-6538 or lisahammes3@gmail.com.

Please bring a dish to pass and your own table service. Coffee will be provided. All church members – men and women age 55 or older – are welcome.
