IN MEMORY of Orlo “Whitey” Noth, $100.00 has been given by Letha Noth.
THE ST. PAUL’S CLASS OF 2017 has donated $250.00 to our newly established Worker Training Assistance Fund.
For several years you have been updated on the labors of The Wartburg Project. LAST SUNDAY, thanks to an anonymous donor, we began distributing free copies (one per household please) of the newly published Evangelical Heritage Version (EHV) New Testament & Psalms. (The complete Bible with the Old Testament will become available in the fall of 2019, a little over two years from now.) If you haven’t yet received one, they are available in the narthex. Inside the volume is also a suggested reading schedule which will take you through the entire New Testament in 90 days. Here is a summer challenge – a few chapters a day – and you can familiarize yourself with this fresh translation produced by over 100 WELS & ELS pastors, professors and other scholars. May God’s hand of blessing rest on the continuing labors of The Wartburg Project!
EDUCATION COMMITTEE & CHURCH COUNCIL NOTES
Education Committee worked on several maintenance issues and is investigating the availability of some used I-Pads for use by upper grade students. Further information on “dome” type structures for a future new school indicated such structures would not be suitable for our needs. Christmas Eve & New Year’s Eve both fall on Sundays this year. Council’s inclination at this point is to have regular Sunday morning services on both of those days, as well as the usual Christmas Eve services. There is some discussion as to whether to dispense with the 7:00 p.m. New Year’s Eve service this year. Voters can discuss this. Feel free to talk to Council members. Since District Conventions each year fall on the first Monday of June, the Council felt it wise hereafter to begin summer Monday services on the 2nd Sunday of June. Council authorized the necessary replacement of one of the school furnaces, and also the replacement of the sidewalk that runs along the south side of the church. Council recommendation regarding the parsonage garage will be brought to the voters on July 23. A committee of the Council will research feasibility of using technology for online Bible History classes for Public School 5th & 6th graders to further prepare them for 7th & 8th grade confirmation instruction. Council approved used of EHV in our services in addition to NIV84, KJV, etc.
