MOVED TO MULDER’S, WEST SALEM – Alberta Piske

A CELEBRATION OF LIFE BENEFIT for Melissa Lockman will be held Sun. Nov. 11 at the Log Cabin (12 p.m. – 4 p.m.) Information is posted in the church entry.

TODAY’S COMMUNION DISTRIBUTION HYMN is, as you can tell from the wording, an evening hymn. The very first line and title, “At Even, When The Sun Did Set,” is taken directly from today’s text from St. Mark as it is worded in the King James Version. It portrays and applies the touching scene as Jesus stands in the doorway of Simon Peter’s house and there, amid the rays of the setting sun, heals all those who are brought to Him. The hymn is printed from The Lutheran Hymnal as an insert today. It is not included in our current hymnal.

EDUCATION COMMITTEE & CHURCH COUNCIL NOTES
Continuing education by various faculty members is ongoing. Mr. Nielsen is currently taking an online graduate course from MLC entitled “Coordinating Technology in Education.” An “Emergency Preparedness Plan” mandated by the state has been completed by our Education Committee and will be submitted for approval to village safety officials for review. Softball co-op with Christ-St. John’s is working out well so far. Tribune, Coulee News, etc. will now be charging for church ads. Given the information already available on our website, etc., the Council has chosen not to make any expenditures on newspaper ads at this time. Quarterly Voters Meeting is Monday, October 22, 7:30 p.m. at Church. The Budget for 2013 will be presented to the voters. Nominating committee will be presented by the congregation president Gary Horstman for approval by the voters. A number of final appeals have been sent to inactive members who have not responded to our efforts over the years. This is an ongoing labor of love.
