CANCER BENEFIT – Obadiah (Obi’) Christenson, the son of Pastor Chris and Elizabeth Christenson from First Lutheran, La Crescent, MN, began chemotherapy treatment for neuroblastoma, a form of cancer that usually afflicts children. You are invited to a special benefit to help support Obadiah and his family on Sunday, August 4 from 2 – 8 p.m. The benefit will be at the La Crescent American Legion, 509 N. WELCOME, NEW TEACHERS! Mrs. Beth Schmeling (Pre-K Teacher) and Mr. Justin Wiechmann (Grades 2-3 Teacher & Athletic Director) will be installed on Sunday, August 11th with a special welcome between services. Preacher for this year’s Harvest-Mission Festival on Sept. 22 will be Seminarian Darin Warnecke who has recently returned from our Friends of China program. The 125th Anniversary of our congregation will be observed in connection with NEXT year’s Harvest-Mission Festival – on Sun., Sept. 28, 2014. Pastor Steve Olson, son of the late Oscar & Lil Olson and ‘son’ of our congregation, will preach for this special anniversary service. Pastor Olson currently serves as pastor of Prince of Peace Lutheran Church in Martinez, Georgia.
