Mark 9:2-9 – See Him for Who He Truly Is

Mark 9:2-9 – See Him for Who He Truly Is

WELCOME TO WORSHIP
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Paul’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news of God’s forgiveness through Jesus.

PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR TODAY’S WORSHIP
Lord Jesus, you veiled your glory throughout your life until the Mount of Transfiguration. Though I cannot go to that mountain and see your true glory with my eyes, I ask you to help me see your glory with the eyes of faith. Today enlighten my mind with your true identity not just because of the power and glory that are yours as the Son of God but especially because of the fact that you humbly veiled your glory in order to save me from my sins. Bless me as I hear your Word and listen to you. In your name I ask this. Amen.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

SUNDAY SCHOOL AND BIBLE STUDY

In today’s lesson, “His Father’s House,” Jesus’ parents travel to Jerusalem as they do each year for the Passover. Returning home, Mary and Joseph notice Jesus’ absence, yet they assume He is among the others in their traveling group. When He doesn’t appear, they return to Jerusalem, searching desperately for three days. They finally find Jesus in the temple, talking with the teachers, who are amazed at His understanding. Despite being in His “Father’s house” (Luke 2:49), Jesus honors His earthly parents and returns to Nazareth with them.

DIVINE CALL EXTENDED

A divine call has been extended to Miss Deborah Buelow to serve as our 1st and 2nd grades teacher beginning this fall. Miss Buelow currently serves at First Lutheran School in Elkhorn, WI. Please keep her in your prayers as she deliberates where she can best use the gifts and abilities the Lord has given her.

2023 ANNUAL REPORT

You can find copies of the 2023 Annual Report in the narthex.

CONGREGATIONAL SURVEY

Once every other year we seek input from the congregation regarding our ministry and its various facets. Your feedback is very much appreciated by the leadership and extremely valuable to the direction of our church. Please provide your anonymous input via the congregational survey that has been prepared. You can find it at the following URL (link provided in email News): https://forms.gle/PzEVxZUxt7uKsG3h6. If you’d prefer, you can also find printed copies in the narthex and turn them into pastor or the church office.

PAJAMA MOVIE NIGHT ON THE REDWING BIG SCREEN

Join us for a Pajama Movie Night! All St. Paul’s families are invited to the school gym to cozy up and watch The Prince of Egypt on Friday, February 23rd at 6:00pm. Bring your kids and grandkids in their coziest pajamas (you can wear yours too!). Feel free to bring blankets and stuffed animals to enjoy the show as well. Some light concessions will be available. We hope to see you there! 19

NEXT MIDWEEK STUDY

Our next midweek study (beginning Feb. 20 & 21) will be an evangelism module called In Season & Out of Season. In his second letter to Timothy, apostle Paul wrote, “Preach the word; be prepared in season and out of season” (4:2). Although originally written as an encouragement to a first-century pastor, Paul’s words are equally applicable to twenty-first-century Christians. We have the same message to share with sinners who desperately need to hear it. In Season & Out of Season seeks to encourage and equip God’s people to share that message in any and every situation.

USHER SCHEDULES

Ushers who didn’t receive new usher schedules via email can find copies of them in the narthex.
