Matthew 9:9-13 – The Remedy: god’s Mercy

Matthew 9:9-13 – The Remedy: god’s Mercy

WELCOME TO WORSHIP
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Paul’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news of God’s forgiveness through Jesus.

PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR TODAY’S WORSHIP
Holy Spirit, you are indeed holy, but I am not. I am overwhelmed at times with the number of my sins, and I feel unworthy to be a part of your kingdom much less serve you in it. Remind me today of your gracious love shown toward men like Moses, Paul, and Matthew, that I can have confidence in what Christ’s blood means for me eternally and in my work done for you. In Jesus’ name I pray. Amen.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS

PEWS, CARPET PREP, AND KITCHEN THANK YOU

A big thank you to all of those who helped prep the sanctuary and basement for the remodel that began this week. We were able to save over $4,500 in man hours. Your work made a huge difference, and we very much appreciate your service to the Lord!

NEW HYMNAL PRESENTATION ONLINE

A presentation on the new hymnal (to be introduced the first Sunday in September) was given last week in between services. If you would like to watch the recording of the presentation, you can find it online on our church’s Vimeo page: vimeo.com/stpaulsbangor.

MONDAY WORSHIP BEGINS MONDAY

Our summer schedule has begun. There will be no Sunday Bible study, Sunday School, or midweek Bible study until after Labor Day. Our Monday worship begins this week, June 12, at 7:00 pm.

SCREEN APPROVED FOR SANCTUARY

After months of consideration and discussion, the council has approved installation of one display (screen) in the sanctuary on the left wall between the Alpha symbol and hymn board for use during worship, for WELS Connections, and for presentations. The installation will coincide with other technology improvements that will be made during the summer remodel. We pray the Lord help us use the screen to enhance our worship of him, our hearing and learning from his Word, and our edification through the gospel message of Christ.

SUMMER COMES, BUT THE WORD IS STILL NEEDED

Schedules get busy in the summer and there’s lots to do, but don’t forget that the devil, the world, and our sinful flesh do not take vacations. Though we don’t have organized group Bible study at the church during the summer months, make sure to stay in the Word at worship (Sunday or Monday) or with at-home Bible study and devotions. If you would like personal Bible study materials, I’m happy to help find what you’d be interested in.

CONCERT IN THE PARK

You are invited to a Stephen Bautista Concert in the Lunda Park (1400 Tyler Street, Black River Falls) hosted by Faith Lutheran Church on Tuesday, June 20, 7:00-8:00 pm. His musical style has been compared to that of James Taylor, with lyrics that are not only well-crafted, but convey a clear Gospel message. He sings with his daughter, Marissa Renee. In addition to sponsoring the band, Faith Lutheran is providing free popcorn and lemonade. Bring a chair or blanket to sit on. In case of a stormy weather tune to WWIS Radio 99.7 FM to hear if the concert will be moved to the church building.

Stephen and his family are WELS members who travel around the country for their full-time Christian music mission. Their goal is to “enlighten the lost and encourage the found” with Stephen’s original, Christ-centered music. Along with his daughter Marissa, Stephen shares his music in a very compelling yet soothing style, while conveying a solid gospel message. Stephen has five professionally produced CDs. His music is also available online at www.StephenBautistaMusic.com, iTunes, Amazon, and most other online outlets.
