WELCOME TO WORSHIP
In the name of our Savior, Jesus Christ, we welcome you to St. Paul’s. We especially welcome our guests who have joined us today. We pray that your soul will be strengthened by the good news of God’s forgiveness through Jesus.
PRAYER IN PREPARATION FOR TODAY’S WORSHIP
God of mercy, I do not deserve to go to heaven. I do not deserve to be counted among your people, and this I sometimes forget when I put my trust in family connections, heritage, and traditions. I confess my unworthiness today. Refresh me in the reason I can have sure confidence of the door to heaven being open for me someday. Show me Jesus and his blood shed for me. In his name I pray. Amen.

NEWS & ANNOUNCEMENTS
WELCOME LINDEMANNS
We’re very blessed to install Mr. Jon Lindemann today as our principal and grades 7 & 8 teacher. We also welcome his wife, Barb, and their children to our church family. May God bless the work we’ll all do together for the sake of his glory and for the souls we’re all privileged to serve.
BACK TO SCHOOL BASH
Save the Date! On Friday, August 26, at 5:30 pm, our PACE committee will be hosting a “Back to School Bash” at our school to help welcome the new school year for our students, families, and congregation members. Activities will include a variety of games, a bounce house, and face painting. We will have a potluck at the event, so we request you bring a dish to pass. Utensils will be provided, please bring a beverage of choice. We request that this be a nut-free event (food-wise, not people-wise, thankfully). Sunday School students and families also encouraged to join in on the fun!
GIVING BOARD
As the new school year approaches, our newly formed PACE (Partners Active in Christian Education) committee has created a Giving Board as a way to help support some of our teachers’ additional needs in the classroom. We welcome you to check out the board in the church lobby and see if there is a way to support our teachers and students as they prepare to enter the classroom.
NEW FELLOWSHIP HOUR SIGNUP
There’s a new Fellowship Hour (the hour in between Sunday services) signup sheet on the bulletin board in the lobby. Please sign up and help us prepare for refreshments during Bible study starting next month!
BIBLE STUDIES BEGIN SUNDAY, SEPT. 11
Our Sunday School and Bible studies will begin back up this fall on Sunday, September 11. Midweek studies will then begin on Tuesday the 13th at 7:00 pm and Wednesday the 14th at 9:00 am.
BIBLE BASICS CLASS BEGINS SEPT. 11
Our next Bible Basics class (also called the new member class or Bible Information Class) will begin Sunday, September 11, at 5:00 pm, and it will continue for 13 weeks at the same time on Sunday evenings. I ask that you block off 1.5 hours for each session, but usually it will be closer to 1 hour. Free childcare can be available upon request. If you or someone you know would be interested in taking the class, please contact Pastor Groth at pastor@stpaulsbangor.com. Long-time members are also invited, as it’s always a good refresher of the foundations of our faith. For more info on the class itself, visit www.stpaulsbangor.com/new/bic.
HELP ST. PAUL’S WITH SCRIP
In a nutshell:
1. St. Paul’s gets money when you purchase gift cards through the Scrip program.
2. The gift cards can be used for things you already purchase all the time from common stores (Hansen’s, Walmart, Home Depot, etc.).
3. The percentage of your purchases that St. Paul’s receives varies depending on the store.
How to purchase gift cards through Scrip:
1. Use the order forms found in the church lobby or at the school.
2. Return the order form to the Scrip box at church or to Janel Lochen, our Scrip coordinator, by the 15th of each month.
3. Janel will receive the cards in the mail and give them to you to use.
4. (Or, if you’re tech savvy, you can simply use the RaiseRight app and do everything from your phone. You would need to contact Janel to get our school enrollment code to get connected.)
You can designate a specific family or the credit will go to the general fee assistance fund. Families will then be able to use the credit that was built up over the year (July 1 – June 30) and can choose to apply that credit towards next school year’s tuition.
Last school year (through June), through $82,691 of purchases made, St. Paul’s received $3,389 (or a little over 4%) back. That’s $3,389 more for gospel ministry than would otherwise not have been able to use for families and the school, simply by filling out a form and using gift cards at the checkout instead of a debit or credit card.
Any questions please contact Janel Lochen at 608-386-4243 or scrip@stpaulsbangor.com.
